Pokémon TCG 30th Anniversary Cards: Full List, Rarities and Pikachu

Around 150 cards, every single one foil, 30 Pikachu from 30 different illustrators, a brand new Futuristic Rare rarity and a Classic Collection of 30 reprints: here is everything confirmed about the 30th Anniversary set.

The Pokémon TCG 30th Anniversary expansion contains around 160+ cards, and 100% of them are foil - an absolute first in the history of the game. Here is everything confirmed so far about the set: the rarities, the 30 Pikachu, the new Futuristic Rare and the Classic Collection.

Article last updated on August 19, 2026. The numbered card-by-card list has not been published yet: it traditionally drops a few days before the set hits shelves. This article will be updated as soon as the official list is out. Everything you read here is confirmed by The Pokémon Company or by official visuals already revealed.

The Set by the Numbers

Official namePokémon TCG: 30th Anniversary (30th Celebration)
Release dateSeptember 16, 2026, worldwide simultaneous launch
Numbered cardsaround 160+
Total including secret raresaround 160+
Cards per booster6 (5 cards + 1 Basic Energy)
Treatment100% foil, Basic Energy cards included

That last point is worth pausing on: there is not a single non-foil card in this expansion. That includes Basic Energy cards, which are traditionally the most ordinary cards in any booster. This is the first time The Pokémon Company has done this across an entire set.

What that means for you as a collector: the usual sort of "foils on one side, commons on the other" no longer applies. Every card in the set has collection value, and completing it means keeping everything.

The 30 Pikachu, One per Year

This is the central idea behind the anniversary: every booster contains one guaranteed Pikachu, pulled from a pool of 30 different illustrations, each one by a different artist. One for every year the game has existed.

It is also the hardest sub-set to complete. Thirty cards, one per pack, pulled at random: any set collector knows the math well. Reaching the last few copies through pack opening alone costs far more than thirty boosters. At a certain point, buying the Pikachu you are missing individually is cheaper than continuing to open.

The New Rarity: Futuristic Rare (FUR)

The expansion introduces a brand new rarity: the Futuristic Rare, recognizable by its pearlescent, opalescent finish.

The two most anticipated cards in this rarity are Mewtwo-ex and Mew-ex, illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN, with a graphic style that is a long way from the usual visual codes of the TCG. Two Pikachu are also part of the Futuristic Rare lineup.

This is the rarity to watch. A new treatment on an anniversary set combines the two factors that drive a card's value over the long term: novelty and commemorative significance.

The Classic Collection: 30 Iconic Cards Reprinted

The set brings back 30 iconic cards from different eras of the game, reprinted with a commemorative "30" stamp.

The Base Set Charizard is among them - the most iconic card in the game, in its 1999 version, reprinted for the occasion.

This mechanic is not new: the Celebrations expansion, released in 2021 for the 25th anniversary, was already built around a Classic Collection of 25 reprints. That is the closest comparable for anticipating how this set will behave.

Promotional Cards Sold Separately

Some cards are not found in boosters and are only available in specific products.

The most sought-after are those from the Premium Deck Set Espeon & Umbreon (Espeon-ex and Umbreon-ex). Umbreon is one of the most collected Pokémon in the game, and its alternate art cards regularly rank among the most expensive in recent expansions.

How to Complete the Set Without Breaking the Bank

Three principles, useful for any expansion but especially relevant here given the card count.

Open for the fun of it, complete by buying. Cracking boosters hoping to land all thirty Pikachu ends up costing far more than opening a reasonable amount and then buying the ones you are missing individually.

Do not buy singles in the first few days. Single card prices are at their highest during release week, when supply is still thin. They ease off once mass openings feed the market.

Track condition, not just the card. On a fully foil set, surface defects are more visible. A Near Mint copy and a played copy are not worth the same, and that gap widens on higher rarities.

Tracking Your Completion

A hundred and fifty fully foil cards including thirty Pikachu is not the kind of set you track in your head. On PokéItem, you scan each card to add it to your collection. The recognition identifies the rarity and language too, and succeeds on more than 98% of scans, measured across more than 150,000 scans. You see in real time what you are still missing from the set, the value of each copy based on its condition, and you can buy the cards you need directly from other collectors on the Marketplace.
