PokéItem and Cardmarket
Cardmarket is the main European marketplace for collectible cards: people buy and sell cards there. PokéItem is a collection app that reads the prices observed on Cardmarket, including the lowest “Near Mint” listing in the card's language and the trend price, and cross-checks them with eBay sales and TCGplayer to compute the PokéItem index. PokéItem is an independent project, with no ties to Cardmarket.

What PokéItem reads on Cardmarket
- The lowest Near Mint listing: the card's cheapest Near Mint listing, in its language.
- The trend price, computed by Cardmarket from recent sales.
- Listings by condition (Excellent, Good, Played, Poor), used to calculate prices by condition.
These prices are collected and updated in PokéItem every 24 hours.
Why the PokéItem index differs from the Cardmarket price
A Cardmarket listing is an asking price. The PokéItem index cross-checks these listings with sales actually completed on eBay and with TCGplayer, then discards outliers. When sellers ask more than buyers pay, the index is lower than the lowest listing.
As a rule, the index does not exceed the lowest Near Mint listing: that is what the card costs if you buy it now.
Lowest listing, trend or index: which one to look at?

- To follow how a card's price changes: the trend price, or the PokéItem index chart.
- To estimate the value of a collection: the PokéItem index, which also draws on completed sales.
