The most expensive card in Delta Reign (ME06) will very likely be Mega Rayquaza ex, either its gold version or its Special Illustration Rare. In Japan, where the set came out on July 31, 2026 as Storm Emeralda, its Mega Ultra Rare (MUR) is worth €581.79 and its Special Art Rare (SAR) €305, according to the PokéItem index on September 27, 2026. Together, they make up three quarters of the value of the complete Japanese set.

Those prices have already melted away: the gold version lost 70% in just under eight weeks. And the precedent of Pitch Black (Nuit Noire in French) shows that the Japanese pecking order doesn't simply carry over to the French edition. Here's what the data says, card by card, ahead of the international release on November 6, 2026.

Top 10 Most Expensive Delta Reign Cards (Japanese Version)

Until the international version is out, the only real market for Delta Reign is Storm Emeralda, its original Japanese set. The numbers below are the Japanese numbers (out of 76): the international version uses different ones.

On rarities: a Japanese Art Rare (AR) matches an Illustration Rare in English, a Special Art Rare (SAR) matches a Special Illustration Rare, and the gold Mega Ultra Rare (MUR) matches the Mega Hyper Rare of the international versions.

Three things stand out.

In Japan, all the value sits on a single Pokémon. Between 2nd place (€305) and 3rd (€44), the price drops sevenfold. If you open packs hoping to "break even", it all rides on two versions of Mega Rayquaza ex: the gold Mega Ultra Rare by takuyoa and the Special Art Rare by Kazuki Minami.

Raikou ex holds 3rd place. Its Special Art Rare, illustrated by Oku, shows Raikou diving through lightning bolts. Along with the full art Mega Rayquaza ex, it's one of only two top 10 cards to climb above its August 4 price (up to €64.59 on August 16) before coming back down. Its artwork carries over to the international version, as number 136/103.

Zinnia's Trust is the only Trainer card in the ranking. Its Special Art Rare, illustrated by Teeziro, features Zinnia, the central character of the Delta Episode in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire: the episode where Mega Rayquaza appears, and the one the set is named after.

Kyogre, tied for 6th, is a special case: in the international version, this Illustration Rare is taken out of the booster packs and becomes the Elite Trainer Box promo card.

Mega Rayquaza ex Price: Eight Weeks of Data in Japan

Four lessons, beyond Rayquaza:

1. The drop is steepest in the first two weeks. The gold version lost 54% between August 4 and 18. After that, the decline slows down but doesn't stop.
2. The most common versions crash the hardest. The full art Raikou ex went from €28 to €5.95 (−79%), the Double Rare Mega Rayquaza ex from €14 to €3.13 (−78%). Every pack opened puts more copies on the market, and a player needs four at most.
3. Great artwork holds up better. Raikou ex Special Art Rare is down 19%, the Growlithe Art Rare 6% (from €9.54 to €8.95), while the set's total value is down 67% (−64% excluding the two Mega Rayquaza ex).
4. A bounce isn't a floor. Rayquaza's Special Art Rare climbed back from €403 (September 1) to €499 (September 14), then fell to €305 two weeks later.

The Pitch Black Precedent: In France, Illustration Beats Gold

Pitch Black (ME05) is the most recent set to make the same journey as Delta Reign: released in Japan on May 22, 2026 as Abyss Eye, then in France on July 17, 2026. Comparing the Japanese market with the French edition on September 27, 2026, card for card, is revealing.

In Japan, Mega Darkrai ex's gold version is worth more than twice its illustration. In France, the illustration is worth almost twice the gold. More broadly, five of Pitch Black's six Special Illustration Rares are worth more in the French edition than their Japanese counterparts.

In terms of trajectory, the Japanese pattern repeated itself in France. Mega Darkrai ex's Mega Hyper Rare was worth €355.80 two days after the French release, €195 ten days later (−45%) and €135 on September 27 (−62%). Its Special Illustration Rare climbed first, from €308.81 to €469.44 in 48 hours, before falling back to €250.

What this suggests for Delta Reign: in the French edition, Mega Rayquaza ex's Special Illustration Rare could overtake its gold version; on Pitch Black, Japanese prices didn't act as a ceiling for the illustrations. With only one set to go on, it's a trend to watch, not a rule. Also worth noting: as of September 27, Abyss Eye had been out for eighteen weeks, Pitch Black for ten.

Cards Missing From Japanese Packs: The International Additions

Delta Reign has 103 cards in its main set, versus 76 for Storm Emeralda. The difference comes from the Japanese ex Starter Sets released the same day, some of whose cards join the international booster packs. For those cards, there's no Japanese booster price to go on: their value will take shape at release, with no reference point.

Two are already known, both Illustration Rares:

• Sprigatito, 105/103, illustrated by Jiro Sasumo, with a postcard theme;
• Eevee, 114/103, illustrated by Hideki Ishikawa: Eevee nestled in a travel bag.

The Kyogre promo is a similar case: it does have a Japanese reference (the Art Rare 080/076, €13 on September 27, 2026), but in the international version it only comes in Elite Trainer Boxes. Its price will depend on how many boxes get opened.

When Should You Buy Delta Reign Singles?

The two curves, Japanese and French, tell the same story: the highest prices show up in the first two weeks.

• October 24, 2026, Prereleases: the first Delta Reign cards appear, in small numbers. Copies are scarce and prices are often high.
• November 6, 2026, release: supply grows every day as packs get opened.
• The following two weeks: that's when the drop was sharpest, on Storm Emeralda (−54% in two weeks for the gold version) as on Pitch Black (−45% in ten days for Mega Darkrai ex's Mega Hyper Rare).

In practice:

• Going after Mega Rayquaza ex? Add it to your wishlist and let the release wave pass. Paying for a card on preorder, before it circulates in numbers, usually means buying it close to the top.
• Opening packs? Your duplicate ex cards lose value fast: the first few weeks are usually when they sell best.
• Going after an Illustration Rare? They held up better than the set as a whole in Japan, but Kyogre, Groudon and Kecleon still lost 35 to 54%. No rush there either.
