Delta Reign: Which Product to Buy and at What Price?

For a first Delta Reign box, the Elite Trainer Box (ETB) is the most complete product: 9 booster packs and the only way to get the Kyogre promo, at an expected retail price of €55.99. For opening in volume, the 36-pack booster display only really saves you money at around €200 or less (€5.56 per pack, versus €6 elsewhere). On preorder, compare before you pay: the same ETB is listed from €55.99 to €89.90 depending on the store, and around €129 on the secondary market as of September 27, 2026.

• Price per pack: around €6 in almost every format, at the expected retail price. The difference between products mostly comes down to the exclusive promos.
• Promos: Kyogre in the ETB, Seel in the 3-pack blister, Spritzee in the checklane blister.
• Secondary market preorders: the ETB trades at €129 as of September 27, 2026, more than twice its expected retail price.
• Pitch Black precedent (Nuit Noire in French): the French-edition ETB was worth €88.39 on the secondary market twelve days before its release, and €64 on September 27.

All Delta Reign Products and Their Prices (ETB, Booster Display, 3-Pack)

For the booster display, €180 matches the first preorders spotted at distributors, and €249 the price listed by a specialist store. Each pack contains 10 cards, with four pack art designs: Mega Rayquaza, Mega Golurk, Mega Malamar and Mega Golisopod. The ETB's price per pack is calculated on its total price, promo and accessories included.

Two products sit outside this table:

• The Build & Battle Box is the Prerelease tournament kit, in stores from October 24, 2026, two weeks before release. It's the only official way to open Delta Reign packs before release, and to play with them.
• The Pokémon Center ETB contains 11 booster packs and a Kyogre promo with a Pokémon Center stamp. Its price and distribution in France had not been announced as of September 27, 2026.

The Delta Reign ETB, the Flagship Product

At €55.99, each pack costs you €6.22, barely more than in the Booster Bundle (€6): the promo and accessories cost you about €2. It's the best value for money in the lineup, as long as you buy it at retail price.

Delta Reign Preorders: The Inflated Price Trap

The PokéItem index already tracks the French-language Delta Reign products, sold on preorder on the secondary market (Cardmarket). As of September 27, 2026:

Two takeaways. First, everything with a price history is below its late-August high: the booster display went from €329 to €245, the Booster Bundle from €75 to €44. Second, the ETB is still by far the most overpriced product, at more than twice its expected retail price.

The German ETB is the most inflated, at €148, while the English ETB (€92) sits close to the cheapest one, the Italian at €90.

What Happened With Pitch Black

Pitch Black (ME05), released on July 17, 2026, is the closest precedent. Same products, French edition, on the secondary market:

Every product lost between a fifth and a third of its price. As of September 27, a product bought at that price on July 5 was worth 19 to 34% less.

Delta Reign has an asset Pitch Black didn't: Mega Rayquaza, absent from the TCG in Mega form since 2015. Demand will probably be stronger. But more demand doesn't mean a lasting shortage: launch sellouts usually clear up with restocks.

FOMO: Why People End Up Paying €129 for an ETB

FOMO, short for fear of missing out, pushes you to buy fast, and at a high price, for fear of not finding the product later. A release like Delta Reign has every ingredient:

• Scarcity on display. "Out of stock", "last few left", countdowns before preorders open. A sellout at one retailer means their stock is gone, not that the set has vanished: other stores still have some, and restocks usually arrive.
• The social media showcase. Opening videos show the Mega Rayquaza ex pulls, rarely the displays opened without the card everyone hoped for. In Japan, out of 46 recorded boxes, the gold version came out only 2 times.
• The fear that prices will rise. "It'll cost more later": the opposite happened in the weeks after the latest releases, with −28% for the Pitch Black ETB in France and −70% for the gold Mega Rayquaza ex in Japan. Some sealed products do gain value, but over years and with no guarantee: that's no reason to pay more than twice the announced price today.
• Resellers betting on your impatience. A €129 preorder on the secondary market is a product offered at 2.3 times its retail price, by a seller who hasn't even received it yet.

Before you confirm a preorder, set yourself a price ceiling, then ask yourself these five questions:

1. What's the retail price? €55.99 for the ETB, €35.99 for the Booster Bundle, €17.99 for the 3-pack blister. Every euro above that is what you pay so you don't have to wait.
2. What do I really want? To open, to keep sealed, or to get one specific card? If it's a card, buy the card rather than a sealed product, unless it's a promo: then the product that contains it is worth it.
3. What do I risk by waiting? Most of the time, just waiting for the restock. There are exceptions, like Prismatic Evolutions in 2025, massively sold out at launch until its reprints. But on Pitch Black (French edition), two months after release, products were worth 19 to 34% less than their July 5 preorder price on the secondary market.
4. Is the seller reliable? An unknown site showing a very low price before a hyped release should set off alarm bells. Stick to well-known stores and a protected payment method.
5. When am I charged? At order or at shipping? A preorder can be delayed, or canceled if the store gets less stock than expected.

One last test: would that price still seem fair to you a week after release, when the product is on the shelves? If the answer is no, wait.

The simple rule: preorder at retail price from a reliable retailer, or wait for release. Paying €129 for an ETB announced at €55.99 is betting on a shortage that nothing points to so far.

Open Packs or Buy the Card You Want?

Nobody knows the pull rates of the international version yet: they'll only be measurable after release. The only reference comes from Japan, where boxes contain 30 packs of 5 cards, a different format from the international 36-pack displays of 10-card packs.

In a sample of 1,380 Japanese packs (46 boxes) opened and recorded by the community, each of the two flagship Mega Rayquaza ex versions came out 2 times. That's too few to draw a reliable rate; other estimates put it at one Mega Ultra Rare every 50 to 100 boxes. Either way, these cards are rare.

Even one copy of each of the set's other 111 cards is worth only €283 in Japan (PokéItem index, September 27, 2026), roughly the price of a booster display, and a display only contains part of them. The card that drives the set's value is unlikely to come out of it: an opened display mostly gives you fun, cards to play with and a few Illustration Rares.

• You love opening packs: open away, but at retail price, and without counting on your pulls to pay you back.
